In the past year, the Lab has been filling with people & equipment!

We are conveniently located directly next to the campus ice cream shop, Ferdinand's. It also sells amazing cheese packaged in neat metal tins. You've heard of Cougar Gold, right?

Thanks to startup funds from the Washington State Potato Commission, funding from the Telford Family Professorship, and to an NSF-DEB grant -- we've been able to purchase critical equipment for the lab. These things will help make our research possible.

pictured above from top left:
  • Eppendorf vacuum centrifuge to dry down samples in 96 well plates or 1.5 mL tubes
  • BluePippin: precise size selection of DNA fragments (getting the order in now)
  • Stirling ultralow freezer (shipping now!)
  • Qubit 4: measure DNA concentration (one of the first things I bought)
  • TapeStation: automated 16-sample electrophoresis to measure fragment distribution & concentration - great for QC in next gen sequencing (arriving soon)
  • Macropod: a top of the line imaging system (we love it & we'll share photos in the future)
